In addition to his recruiting prowess — Andersen has been named the top non-BCS recruiter in the country by rivals.com — the defensive coordinator at Utah is a finalist for the Broyles Award given to the nation's top assistant coach.

Though he has 11 years as an assistant coach at Utah, Andersen has also coached at several other schools, including one year as the head coach at Southern Utah in 2003, when the Thunderbirds finished 4-7.

Andersen's USU coaching staff, obviously, has yet to be completed but sources indicate a few other assistant coaches at Utah might follow Andersen to Logan — primarily Aaron Roderick to make the leap from receivers coach to offensive coordinator, and linebackers coach Kilane Sitaki as USU's next defensive coordinator.
