The Utes' first-teamers included Johnson, Sakoda, offensive linemen Zane Beadles and Robert Conley, defensive end Paul Kruger, plus cornerbacks Brice McCain and Sean Smith.

BYU and Utah also had players picked on the second team.

On offense, quarterback Max Hall and offensive lineman Travis Bright made it for the Cougars. Wide receiver Freddie Brown represented the Utes.

The defensive squad featured defensive end Koa Misi and linebacker Stevenson Sylvester for Utah and linebacker David Nixon of BYU.

The honorable mention list included punter C.J. Santiago and defensive back David Tafuna of BYU, as well as offensive lineman Zane Taylor, kick returner David Reed, defensive lineman Greg Newman and linebacker Mike Wright of Utah.

"I'm very proud of our players," Whittingham said. "It was great to see so many of them recognized with the all-conference selections, particularly Brian and Louie being players of the year, respectively."

All of the Utes, he added, are very deserving of the recognition.
