Utah Jazz: 2 stars will sit tonight; Boozer likely out another week
Boozer, in fact, indicated today that he likely will not play at all this week a stretch in which, starting this evening, the 11-7 team plays four games in five nights.
Both previously had been listed by the Jazz as "doubtful" for tonight, Boozer with a strained left quadriceps tendon that has kept him out for six straight games and Kirilenko because of irritation in his right ankle.
Boozer said after today's morning shootaround that he also probably won't play when the Jazz play host to Miami on Wednesday night at EnergySolutions Arena, and suggested his absence is likely to be even longer.
"The pain is still there a little bit, but it is getting better, which is a great sign," he said. "It's just not strong enough. I need to run full speed, and cut, and those type of things.
"So," Boozer added, "I'm probably maybe a week away."
As expected, the Jazz also will be without reserve forward Matt Harpring (back) and reserve big man Jarron Collins (elbow) tonight.
But Brevin Knight (sprained finger) is "probable" to return, and fellow reserve point Ronnie Price (family funeral) will play.
