Utah State football: Sources say USU's Brent Guy fired
Sunday, according to sources at Utah State, Guy was fired with one season remaining on his contract.
Guy is just 8-38 overall as the Aggies' coach and, despite several close games, has not won enough for Utah State to give the embattled coach a fifth season in Logan.
According to the sources, Guy met with the team Sunday afternoon with athletic director Scott Barnes and informed them of the news. Attempts to reach Guy and Barnes Sunday evening for comment were not immediately successful.
Utah State has scheduled a press conference for Monday at 11:30 a.m. to formally announce the decision and discuss why it was made.
The Aggies have one game remaining this year, at home against New Mexico State on Nov. 29, and Guy will close out the season with the team.
