The top entries in this year's state Radon Poster Contest are Emma Sorensen and Taite Haynes, both from Centennial Middle School in Provo, and Courtney Morgan, from South Jordan Middle School. Winners were chosen by public voting.

The annual contest is sponsored by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality's Division of Radiation Control. Students age 9-14 entered 138 posters from eight different schools.

The top three entries from Utah will be entered in a national contest in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the contest is to educate people about radon, an invisible, naturally occurring cancer-causing radioactive gas that can accumulate in homes.
