Keeping turnovers low has been key to 'great' offense

OLYMPIC CELEBRATION: Five Olympians from the Jazz and the Salt Lake Bees — both owned by Larry H. Miller — will be honored at halftime tonight for their participation in the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing.

The honorees include: Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams from the gold-medal-winning U.S. basketball team; Andrei Kirilenko, Russia's flag-bearer and star basketball player; and Bees standouts Matt Brown and Kevin Jepsen, who won bronze medals with the U.S. baseball team.

Posters featuring the five athletes will be given to the first 10,000 fans in attendance. Olympic memorabilia signed by the Jazz Olympians will be on sale in a silent auction before halftime between portals L and M on the main concourse, with funds benefiting Bear Hugs for Kids.

WARM GESTURE: Two Utah charities are hoping Kyle Korver has to sign a lot of autographs Friday. The Jazz sharpshooter wouldn't mind, either.

Korver and the Jazz are sponsoring a coat drive at Friday's home game against Oklahoma City. The team is asking fans to donate new coats (with tags still attached), which will be given to the Utah Dream Center and Salt Lake CAP Head Start.

A warm heart won't be the only reward for generous fans. Everybody who donates a coat will receive a voucher that will admit two people into a postgame signing session with Korver. Complimentary photos will be provided, but fans can have personal items signed instead.

RUMOR MILL: The big Nuggets-Pistons trade that went down this week could directly affect Utah next year. It might pave the way for Carlos Boozer to become one of the "Bad Boys" in Detroit.

That scenario is possible, according to a HoopsWorld.com report in which an unidentified source claims the Pistons will consider signing the Jazz power forward if/when he opts to become a free agent after this season.

However, Boozer reiterated Tuesday on "The Jim Rome Show" (1280-AM) that he has "not yet" decided if he'll opt out of his contract with Utah.

"I think the contract situation for myself and my teammates will take care of itself this summer. If we win, then we'll all get exactly what we want," he told Rome. "I'm going to let the season play out and see where I'm at and evaluate everything at the end of the season."

TUNED OUT: ESPN has dropped the Jazz-Wizards game next Wednesday off of its broadcast schedule. The network will instead televise Portland at Miami. Utah's game that night in Washington — the third in a five-game Eastern swing — will still air on FSN.
