Utah Jazz: Williams will not play tonight vs. Clippers
But now it's known for certain that would-be starting point Deron Williams will not play in tonight's rematch with the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center here.
The Jazz ruled Williams out for tonight following their morning shootaround at Loyola Marymount University.
Williams sprained his left ankle in an Oct. 18 preseason game at Chicago.
He has missed both of the 2-0 Jazz's first two games of the regular season, including Saturday night's 101-79 victory over the Clippers at EnergySolutions Arena.
Williams had said last week that he hoped to return in time for Wednesday night's home game against Portland, but it remains to be seen if he will.
With Williams still out, Utah Valley State product Ronnie Price will make a third straight start at the point and ex-Clippers guard Brevin Knight again will back him up.
Also out tonight for the Jazz, as expected, will be veteran forward Matt Harpring (ankle rehab). Reserve center Jarron Collins (triceps tendinitis/bruised elbow) remains "questionable" and will be a game-time decision.
