Meanwhile, Highland and West have split their last two games: the Rams won last year, 23-21, while West prevailed 33-6 in '06.

Last year, Union defeated Judge 40-35 during the regular season, but the Bulldogs ousted the Cougars, 49-20 in the 3A semifinals.

Mountain Crest leads its series with Sky View, 18-9, but the Bobcats have won the last two.

Mountain View and Dixie meet for the fourth time, but first since 1994. Dixie leads the series 2-1.

Pine View and Snow Canyon are tied, 7-7.

MILESTONES: Logan is still seeking its 450th win and Provo is still trying for win No. 400.

Woods Cross' Fred Fernandes, Pine View's Ray Hosner and Riverton's Mike Miller are all going for their 75th coaching victories.

North Sevier is playing its 400th game and Juan Diego, its 100th.

SYRACUSE'S TURNAROUND: Syracuse, 0-10 last year, now has a 6-2 record and is guaranteed a winning season. Few schools have gone from a winless first year to a winning second season.

Story continues below
When Syracuse opened in 2007, it became the 124th Utah prep program. Last year, Syracuse became the 41st school to lose every game its first season. Of the previous 40, only eight posted a winning record their second season. This year, the Titans become the ninth. The most recent teams to have matched that accomplishment: Northridge (0-9 in '93 to 7-3 in '94), Hunter (0-9 in '90 to 10-2 in '91), Clearfield (0-9 in '61 to 6-3 in '62) and Bonneville (0-8 in '60 to 7-3 in '61).

FROM LAST WEEK: American Fork suffered its first shutout since 2002, a streak of 71 games and just one shy of matching the school record.

Spanish Fork's Breck Lewis accumulated 472 yards of total offense in the Dons' 56-34 setback to Pleasant Grove. Only 10 players have passed and run for more yardage in a single game. Lewis has now passed for more than 4,000 yards in his career. The game was also the third straight time that SF scored 34 points, but the Dons won the other two.

Granger's Manu Samani rushed for 289 yards, the most in a game this season, in a 34-31 loss to Olympus.

Box Elder held Roy to a total of negative-22 yards, the sixth-fewest allowed on record and the fewest since Beaver set the record in 1980 when the Beavers held Parowan to minus-56 yards in a 64-0 thrashing.
