OGDEN — Firefighters were called out to an abandoned house for the third time in two days late Thursday.

A suspicious fire damaged the outside of a house at 1823 Kiesel Ave. about 10 p.m., said Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Chad Tucker.

A night prior, flames completely engulfed the structure, threatening homes on either side. The block is part of a redevelopment area and all of the houses on that block are boarded up, Tucker said.

"The citizens on the other side of 18th Street are concerned that these abandoned houses are catching fire," he said. "They worry somebody is going to get hurt."

Police and firefighters are working closely together to prevent fires in the area. Investigators suspect arson, but aren't sure if the fires are being set by one person or a copycat.

Tucker asked residents in the area to watch for suspicious activity and report it to police and fire investigators.
