GOP slime machine revved up

John McCain's campaign was brilliant. From the moment he chose Sarah Palin to energize the radical right, through the lipstick and pig distractions, McCain was rolling. Sadly for McCain, recent events forced the presidential campaign back to an unfortunate discussion of real issues. Interviews brought into clear focus Palin's obvious lack of intellectual curiosity and capacity. The financial crisis and his "strong fundamentals" and other absurd comments about the economy made it clear how out of touch McCain is.

Polls have swung widely to Barack Obama. Now, in desperation, the GOP and McCain have abandoned any pretext of honor and have started a smear campaign. The right-wing "slime machine" will work overtime the last month of the campaign. We're seeing the result of their failed policies. They will try to convince us black is white, up is down and day is night in their attempt to maintain power at all costs.
