TREMONTON — An 11-year-old boy is hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car.

Police said the boy was riding his bicycle through a crosswalk at 100 E. Main about 6 p.m., Monday, when he was hit by a car.

"The sun setting was most likely a factor," said Tremonton Police Chief David Nance. "She indicated she didn't see him at all."

The boy was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital with serious head injuries and later flown by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City. He was not wearing a helmet, Nance said.

A citation will likely be issued against the 31-year-old woman who hit him, the chief said.
