MormonTimes.com: Tiffany Gee Lewis: Lessons from general conference
General conference is not what I thought it would be in our home B.K. (in the Before-Kids era). Visions of sitting in a rocker and knitting while listening to words of counsel have vanished to a cupboard high in my closet. Hopes that my children would sit with rapt attention around the TV, or at least play quietly so my husband and I could listen, have also disappeared.
Still, I hold out hope that as these little guys creep closer to the age of accountability, conference weekend will be one of enjoyment and tranquility. Until that time, and even with my tempered expectations of what our weekend will be like, we still make general conference a Big Deal in our home.
