A fire destroyed two boarded-up homes on 900 West between 400 South and 500 South early Saturday morning.

Crews were alerted to the blaze shortly after midnight Friday and were able to contain the fire within 30 minutes, said Salt Lake City Fire Capt. Karaleen Montanez. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Montanez said the two homes likely were damaged beyond repair. She estimated the damage at between $100,000 and $200,000.
