Auditions
This is the world premiere of Janeen Jacob Brady's new musical. Five adults and an unlimited supply of children are needed. Come prepared to sing something upbeat and snappy and to do a bit of dancing. An accompanist will be provided, but minus tracks are OK.
Performances are Dec. 18-20. Go to www.draperartscouncil.org for more information and role descriptions.
"A Christmas Carol," Wednesday and Thursday, children from 5-7 p.m., adults 7-9 p.m., Hale Theater Orem, 225 W. 400 North, Orem.
All roles with the exception of Ebenezer Scrooge are available. Adults auditioning should prepare to sing 16 bars of a song that showcases their vocal abilities. They should be familiar with a proper British and/or cockney accent for a short cold read.
This is a musical version of the show. Singing-only roles are available for the show's choir, which is an integral part of the production. In addition to performances, the carolers perform at several paid events throughout the season. Directors are also looking for strong singers to sing newly written solos.
Show dates are Nov. 28-Dec. 23, directed by Jerry Ellison. Please call 226-8600 to make an appointment.
"Joyful Noise," Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Covey Center for the Arts, 425 W. Center, Provo.
Five men and three women who can speak with an English accent are needed to fill roles. Those who audition will be reading from the script. Women trying for the lead must be prepared to sing a capella from Handel's "Messiah." Written by local playwright Tim Slover.
Performances are Nov. 28-Dec. 20.
