Question: My girlfriends and I can't wait to see the handsome Simon Baker in his new show, "The Mentalist." But we are about to go nuts trying to think of the name of the series he was in a few years ago, where he played a lawyer serving out his probation. Please tell us the name of it.

Answer: That show was "The Guardian," and it ran on CBS from 2001 until 2004. Baker played Nick Fallin, a high-powered attorney who had been caught in a drug bust. He divided his time between working for his dad (Dabney Coleman) at the family firm and doing community service with social worker Alvin Masterson (Alan Rosenberg).

Question: This is about two shows on Bravo —"Workout" and "Flipping Out" — and their stars, Jackie Warner and Jeff Lewis. The resemblance between the two of them is just uncanny. Are they brother and sister?

Answer: Brother and sister, no. Similar plastic surgeons, maybe. They aren't related.

Question: In the late 1970s or early '80s I saw a TV movie about a man whose dreams came true, but no one believed him because he was the only one who noticed. Then his doctor found out the truth and began to manipulate his dreams. Can you tell me the title of this movie and if it's on VHS or DVD?

Answer: That's "The Lathe of Heaven," a 1980 TV movie with Bruce Davison and Kevin Conway. It's on video and DVD.

Question: What is the name of the song played on the commercials for the last season of "The Shield"?

Answer: It's "Farewell Ride" by Beck.

Question: I really loved "Flight of the Conchords" on HBO. I watched from the first episode to the finale. When is the second season supposed to premiere?

Answer: The boys are scheduled to return in January.

Question: I'm trying to find an old movie or miniseries about a family who came to America from England or Ireland. I think Kate Mulgrew was in it and maybe Pierce Brosnan too. Can you help me find the correct title or info on this movie and tell me if it is available on DVD or VHS?

Answer: Sounds like you might be lookin' for "The Mansions of America," a wee 1981 miniseries about Irish immigrants lovin', fightin' and schemin' their way into high society at the turn of the century. The Mulgrew lass and the Brosnan lad were in it as plain as the wart on a leprechaun's nose! And it's on video.
