Traditional mall planned for Lehi
City officials confirmed that the property around 2100 North and 2300 West is in the planning stages of construction and, for now, is expected to be called Thanksgiving Station.
"It would be comparable in size to South Towne, so almost 700,000 square feet," Lehi economic director Doug Meldrum said. "It will be an indoor, traditional mall, but it is still in the early developmental stages that things could change quickly."
Meldrum said the property is owned by three companies Thanksgiving Park, Woodbury and Westfield and that the plan is for the three to partner in the development of the mall and power center around it.
The first phase is expected to be completed in 2010, which is when the 2100 North corridor is also expected to be completed. According to Meldrum, increased transportation improvement in the area will be a key part of the development. The mall will also be close to the commuter rail, which will have a station in the area.
The initial estimates put the annual tax revenue for Lehi at around $3.1 million, Meldrum said.
"It is pretty close to right in between South Towne and University malls," Meldrum said. "Then Lehi is nothing but land right now, and we are going to continue to grow, so ultimately it will be supported by the population."
