OGDEN (AP) — Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey says plans are taking shape for a $13 million downtown velodrome that could be the only one of its kind.

Godfrey says he expects preliminary architectural plans for the velodrome to be complete next week. The 160,000-square-foot arena would include 10 indoor tennis courts, a 250-meter cycling track, a concrete in-line skating rink and an archery facility.

Utah Sports Commission president Jeff Robbins says the facility could be a significant draw for Utah and Ogden.

Godfrey hopes to build the facility by 2011 on a five-acre site near Ogden's intermodal transportation hub. He says a public-private partnership could build the velodrome. He estimates Ogden's share would be about $100,000.
