Crew shuts out Revolution; Chivas USA rallies

Columbus goalkeeper William Hesmer was tested only once in the game.
Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis finished the game with nine saves on 27 shots and watched the ball carom off the goalframe twice.
CHIVAS USA 3, TORONTO FC 1: At Toronto, Daniel Paladini and Jonathan Bornstein rallied Chivas USA. Ante Razov had a goal and two assists for Chivas USA (8-9-6), which was missing nine players two to international play, five to injuries and two to yellow cards.
FIRE 1, RED BULLS 0: At Bridgeview, Ill., Stephen King scored in the 36th minute to lift Chicago. Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch earned his 10th shutout the season while facing and saving just two shots on goal. Chicago (11-7-5) moved into a tie with New England for second place in the Eastern Conference, five points behind Columbus.
EARTHQUAKES 2, UNITED 1: At Santa Clara, Calif., Arturo Alvarez and Darren Huckerby scored to help the San Jose Earthquakes continue their MLS playoff push with a victory over DC United. The Earthquakes (7-9-7) extended their unbeaten streak to eight games and won for the fourth straight time at home, this time before a crowd of 10,121. San Jose moved into fourth place in MLS, three points behind second-place Real Salt Lake.
