A 16-year-old girl was killed and three other teens injured near Plain City on Friday night when the car they were riding in was struck by a truck that ran a yield sign.

Weber County Sheriff's Lt. Matthew Bell said the accident occurred about 7 p.m. at the intersection of 2050 North and 5900 West. A 26-year-old man traveling north in a pickup truck failed to yield and slammed into a Ford Escort carrying the four teenagers, Bell said.

The 16-year-old girl, a passenger in the car, died at the scene. The driver and two other passengers were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, Bell said, and charges may be filed.

The name of the girl who died has not been released.
