Eagle Mtn. master plan could open door for 417 new homes
The City Council approved the Oquirrh Mountain master development plan Tuesday for Sage communties, which has developed other neighborhoods in the northestern Utah County town.
Project manager Ryan Kent said the new community is to include a variety of housing types, including single-family homes, condominiums, duplexes and triplexes. But one of the most interesting features is that the plan includes a 4.5-acre park with nearly three-quarters of an acre dedicated to preserving Indian petroglyphs in the area.
Developers have teamed with Utah Rock Art Research Association and the National Park Service to determine how best to showcase the historic native art and protect it, Kent said.
Park plans also include a lookout tower and trail system, he said.
The planned community of clustered homes southwest of the Eagle Valley Elementary School is to remain in the Ranches homeowners association, although as a separate entity, Kent said.
Construction of utilities is expected to begin next year with a buildout over the next several years. A chapel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in negotiation for the development, he said.
