High school athletes of the week
The senior, who will play for the University of Utah next fall, leads the Braves and 4A with an astounding 14 goals in six games. In addition, Okapal scored a hat trick in four consecutive games including last week's 4-1 victory over Sky View.
She leads the way in the classroom as well, as a high honor roll student with a 3.8 grade point average.
Isi Sofele, Cottonwood, football: In what will likely be remembered as one of the wildest games of the 2008 season, this senior running back made the difference making plays to lead Cottonwood to a 40-36 win over Layton on Friday night.
Sofele scored two touchdowns in the final 10 minutes to help the Colts overcome a 10-point deficit. Earlier in the game, he caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Steve Romero.
Sofele is averaging 8.8 yards per carry after two games this season. He has scored four touchdowns while compiling 314 yards of total offense.
