Man found wounded on State Street
A passerby noticed the man was unconscious in the driver's seat of the car and called police about 5:30 p.m., said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Dave Hoffman. The car was parked at the corner of 1500 South and State Street. Hoffman said police had taken witness statements that provided the name of a "person of interest" who was being sought late Friday. Hoffman could not elaborate on whether the person being sought was considered a suspect in the shooting.
The injured man, a Salt Lake City resident, was transferred to a local hospital in critical condition with a severe leg wound. Hoffman said, late Friday, that the man's condition had improved somewhat, though he was still being listed as critical and police had not been able to conduct an interview.
