High school football Top 25
1. Alta (1-0) Class: 5A
Was: 1. Points: 298. Last week: Beat Spanish Fork, 42-6.
Outlook: These days, nothing else compares to the Bingham-Alta football rivalry, and a mammoth crowd should be on hand at Alta High this Friday. Next up: vs. Bingham, Friday.
2. Timpview (1-0) Class: 4A
Was: 3. Points: 284. Last week: Beat Pleasant Grove, 10-6.
Outlook: You could've made a convincing argument for Timpview to be ranked No. 1 heading into the season, but it's a little harder to make the case after the T-Birds were forced to grind out a nail-biting win over Pleasant Grove. Next up: vs. Spanish Fork, Friday
Was: 4. Points: 264. Last week: Beat Bonneville, 20-0.
Outlook: How will Lancers replace star running back LaVaughn Jackson? Next up: vs. Cottonwood, Friday.
4. Cottonwood (1-0) Class: 4A
Was: 5. Points: 259. Last week: Beat Clearfield, 41-10.
Outlook: Huge test for the Colts this Friday up in Davis County. Next up: at Layton, Friday.
