Comments sought on health reform
The conference is aimed at generating public feedback and recommendations to a legislative mandate to improve access and accountability as well as try to contain the skyrocketing cost of medical care.
The Legislature created the Health System Reform Task Force to consider and develop reform proposals. With three more meetings left between now and December, the task force is now gathering community feedback and specific recommendations, said Judi Hillman, executive director of the Utah Health Policy Project, a nonprofit health-care policy and practices research group.
Five work groups appointed by the task force intend to combine the information from the satellite conference to their finished proposals to be drafted in September and October.
"This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about our state's health-care reform efforts and to voice feedback," Hillman said. "These reforms are about all of us and will affect all of us."
The conference is scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Exact locations and directions to the various sites are available by sending an RSVP to stacey@healthopolicyproject
Those who are unable to attend and would like to participate can suggest possible sites for a future satellite conference this fall.
