MormonTimes.com: Parenting can influence youths later, but no guarantees

PROVO — Balanced and effective parenting when children are young can reduce the risk of rebellion as they enter the teen years, but because teens have choices there are no guarantees.

Parenting classes drew large crowds at Brigham Young University's annual Campus Education Week, including a session that addressed rebellion and how parenting styles interact with children's personalities.

Kevin Hinckley, a counselor who facilitates an addiction-recovery program, addressed overflow crowds Wednesday and Thursday on how good families can deal better with rebellious children.
