Utah's Fillmore ousted in 2nd round of U.S. Amateur

PINEHURST, N.C. — Utah's Robbie Fillmore lost in the second round of the U.S. Amateur to Kevin Tway 3 and 2 at Pinehurst No. 2 Course Thursday morning.

The 22-year-old BYU golfer who attended East High, got behind early with bogeys on the first two holes and never recovered. Fillmore, who earned medalist honors and the No. 1 seed in the tournament on Tuesday, only won four holes on the day and each time, Tway came back to win the following hole. The match ended at No. 16 with a Tway birdie.

Tway is the son of PGA professional Bob Tway and is a sophomore at Oklahoma State.
