MormonTimes.com: U.S. softball team loses gold-medal game

BEIJING — The U.S. Olympic softball team was denied a fourth straight gold medal, losing 3-1 on Thursday to Japan in the sport's final appearance in the Games for at least eight years.

Tairia Flowers played first base for the Americans, going 0-for-3 at the plate. Backup outfielder Laura Berg did not play in the game Thursday.
