How well has the media covered the LDS Church and gay issues?

The June announcement by the LDS Church asking California members to join the effort to amend that state's constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman has garnered attention, including emotional feelings on either side of California's Proposition 8 debate.

Most media reporting about the church's stand has been fairly balanced, with the requisite response from Affirmation, a gay Mormon group. This story has been most heavily covered in Utah and California.
