MormonTimes.com: Illness rates down among missionaries

The daily rate of illness among LDS missionaries has dropped from 38 percent two decades ago to .2 percent today, thanks to a group of doctors who now advise leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on preventative health care worldwide.

Dr. Donald Doty, a cardiovascular surgeon and chairman of the LDS Church's Missionary Department Health Services, told an Education Week crowd at Brigham Young University on Tuesday that doctors are "continually trying to improve things and make them better so missionaries can serve successfully and remain healthy throughout their missions."
