Tickets available to see Obama
The Utah State Democratic Party will be in charge of handing out tickets here, said Bill Keshlear, state party spokesman.
Utahns interested in traveling to Denver to see Obama's speech in person can call Utah party headquarters at 801-328-1212.
"We don't know how many tickets we will get, or exactly how we will decide" who will get the tickets, said Keshlear.
The DNC sent out a press release Wednesday afternoon saying that half of the unallocated tickets in the stadium that is home to the National Football League's Denver Broncos will go to Coloradans, since that state is hosting the four-day National Democratic Convention.
The convention starts Aug. 25 in the Pepsi Center, the home arena of the National Basketball Association's Denver Nuggets. All convention activities except Obama's speech will be at the Pepsi Center.
More than two-thirds of the unallocated Mile High tickets will go to Western and Southern state Democratic parties, since those historically Republican regions are seeing more Democrats in recent years, DNC officials said.
Many of the Mile High seats already are allocated to national Democratic delegates, alternates, guests and the media.
The rest will be allocated by local party officials, the DNC said.
