Woman gets jail time for providing drugs
Leslie Butler, 31, pleaded guilty in June in 4th District Court to distributing or offering or arranging to distribute a controlled substance, a second-degree felony, as well as two class A misdemeanors for possessing a controlled substance.
Police found Jeffery Redd Butler, 35, unconscious in the couple's Springville home on Feb. 24, and they initially thought it was due to carbon monoxide poisoning. He later died at the hospital, but police didn't find any evidence of carbon monoxide in the house.
After a search warrant was issued, officers found cocaine, heroin and needles in the home, which Leslie Butler allegedly confessed to using with her husband the night before.
Judge Steven Hansen sentenced her to 30 days in jail, but he allowed her to serve the rest of her 180 days on the jail's GPS ankle monitoring.
He told the family of Jeffery Butler that he had thoroughly read their letter and appreciated their comments, which was why he sent her pre-sentence review back to Adult Probation and Parole for another review.
