FOOTBALL: As the preseason accolades continue to roll in for the Cougars, junior Jan Jorgensen has been named a candidate for the 2008 Ted Hendricks Award. Named in honor of college football's first three-time, first-team All-American, this honor is awarded annually to the premier defensive end in the country.

Jorgensen, who is also a candidate for the Rotary Lombardi Award, the Lott Trophy and All-America honors, has started 26 straight games at defensive end for the Cougars. He earned both Academic All-Mountain West Conference and All-Mountain West first-team honors last season.
