NATIONAL SURFING TOUR

The Wave Loch Flow Tour will be at the Salomon Center's Flowrider today.

The Flowrider in an indoor surfing wave.

The competition will bring to Ogden some of the best flowboarders, kneeboarders and body boarders in the country.

The winner of the competition will receive a free round-trip ticket to compete in the national competition at San Diego in September.

This event is open to the public, and anyone can enter. In addition to the competition, Flowrider Utah will host a number of festivities for the July 24 holiday.

The Salomon Center is located in Ogden.

BIRDING AWARD ANNOUNCED

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History has given its Nature Education Achievement Award to Bill Fenimore of Farmington.

The award spotlights individuals and their communities in order to stimulate others to improve and expand the quality of nature education programs across the country.

Fenimore is an author, educator, naturalist and field birder. He owns and operates the Layton Wild Bird Center. He is author of 50 state backyard bird guides.

The American Birding Association recently presented Fenimore with the national Ludlow Griscom Award.

Fenimore gives seminars and workshops on backyard birding basics and landscaping for wildlife. He also leads field trips on nature, with a bird focus through the Wild Bird Center.
