Utah Jazz notes: Team to take on Iran's Olympians
Iran which next month will play in its first Olympic men's basketball tournament since 1948 has been training and playing exhibition games for the last several days in Utah.
Dallas' summer-league club beat Iran on Saturday, when the national team made in its only other Revue appearance.
Tonight's game at Salt Lake Community College's Lifetime Activities Center starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10.
The game like all Jazz Revue outings will be aired live on KJZZ-TV, and broadcast live on KFNZ-1320 AM.
The eight-team, six-day Revue runs through Friday night. Four games are scheduled today, beginning with Dallas vs. San Antonio at noon.
CARTER OUT: The Jazz's Revue team will be without guard Russell Carter, who injured his left knee during a collision with a teammate in Saturday night's loss to Atlanta.
An MRI exam performed Sunday revealed Carter has a grade-2 sprain of his medial collateral ligament. The sprain is expected to heal in 6-to-12 weeks, a period in which Carter will have to wear a knee brace.
Carter, an undrafted shooting guard from Notre Dame, finished last season with Tulsa of the NBA Development League. He also played last season in Italy.
The injury whittles the Jazz's roster count of healthy players to 16.
MISC.: The Jazz must decide by the end of this week whether or not to match the four-year, $15 million qualifying offer that swingman C.J. Miles signed last Friday with Oklahoma City ... Jazz point guard Deron Williams and All-Star power forward Carlos Boozer resume training today with Team USA in Las Vegas, where the Olympic team will play an exhibition Friday vs. Canada in advance of next month's Summer Games in Beijing, China ... Ex-Jazz point guard Carlos Arroyo a free agent who most recently played with the Orlando Magic did not play in Puerto Rico's third-place loss to Germany in Sunday's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament due to a torn leg muscle sustained in Saturday's semifinal loss to Greece.
