KIDNEY LAKE, Duchesne County — A 14-year-old Boy Scout has been missing in the high Uinta Mountains since Tuesday.

The teen was last seen around 5 p.m. Tuesday, but police were not notified until just after 6 p.m. Wednesday, said Duchesne County sheriff's deputy Aaron Chapman.

Search efforts will begin early Thursday morning, he said.

Police did not release any other details about the Scout Wednesday night. Chapman said more information would be released following a police briefing Thursday morning.

Temperatures could dip as low as 40 degrees overnight in the area with a chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City.
