St. George police have arrested a suspected burglar who holed himself up on the roof of a home.

Police were called to a home on the 1100 East block of Hubbard Place on Saturday, to find a 24-year-old man on the roof.

"He appeared intoxicated and was darting around the roof, concealing himself," St. George Police Sgt. James Van Fleet said Monday.

Police said the man climbed up on the roof of the home and tore down a satellite dish, using it and his foot to break several windows in the home. Three people were inside the home at the time of the break-in. Van Fleet said officers ran into the home, catching the man as he was crawling through a window.

"When (the man) saw the officers, he fled back to the roof," Van Fleet said.

Police negotiated with the man to surrender. He eventually climbed down from the roof and was arrested.

The man was booked into the Purgatory Jail on investigation of burglary, disorderly conduct, interfering with arrest and public intoxication. The man posted bail several hours later.
