Police have not ruled out any possibilities as they continue to investigate the discovery of a body along I-80 early Sunday afternoon.

About noon, a driver spotted the body of a man in his 40s near 2000 West and eastbound I-80, said Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Jesse Valenzuela.

The man was fully clothed and police did not find any weapons at the scene. It was unclear how long the man had been dead or how he died, Valenzuela said.

"They couldn't tell if there were obvious signs of trauma because of the decomposition," he said. "The investigation is still ongoing."

The body was taken to the medical examiner's office Sunday afternoon for an autopsy. The Utah Highway Patrol and Salt Lake police detectives are working together on the investigation.
