Defending champs smash Crush to advance in playoffs
San Jose will play the winner of today's game between the Grand Rapids Rampage and the Chicago Rush next week for the right to play in the Arena Bowl on July 27 in New Orleans.
San Jose entered the fourth quarter with 36-24 lead, and the teams combined for 55 points in the final period.
Grieb went 25-for-34 and connected with James Roe for three touchdowns. Rodney Wright had nine catches for 116 yards and two TDs, and Saintil caught eight passes for 95 yards and two scores.
John Dutton went 38-for-58 for 369 yards with seven touchdown passes for the Crush.
SOUL 49, DRAGONS 48: At Philadelphia, Matt D'Orazio threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Larry Brackins on the final play of the game to give the Soul a victory over New York.
With 7 seconds left, the Soul trailed 48-43. D'Orazio dropped back and connected with Brackins on a crossing pattern. The receiver dashed toward the end zone and barely broke the goal line while two Dragons tried to bring him down. The play was reviewed by video replay and the touchdown stood.
The Soul will host the winner of Monday's game between Cleveland and Georgia in the conference championship game next weekend for a trip to the Arena Bowl in New Orleans on July 27.
New York quarterback Aaron Garcia hooked up with Kevin Swayne for five touchdowns.
D'Orazio threw six touchdown passes, four to Chris Jackson.
