A member of the Utah Federal Defender Office will represent a Guantanamo Bay inmate accused in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Attorney Steven Killpack says he will investigate allegations of torture in the case of Ammar al-Baluchi, the nephew of accused 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

Baluchi has been implicated in the plot to fund and harbor the hijackers as they prepared for their suicide mission in the United States.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled last month that inmates in federal custody have the right to challenge their detentions.

As an attorney I'm glad that due process of law prevails.
