Fire restrictions starting in Kane, Garfield counties
Only blazes within approved facilities will be allowed
The fire restrictions will be enforced on all public and unincorporated state and private lands east of U.S. 89 in the Kanab Field Office Color Country District. The restrictions do not apply to incorporated towns and cities.
Only fires within approved fire pits in developed recreation sites and picnic areas will be allowed. Propane and natural gas appliances will be allowed. No smoking is permitted except in an enclosed vehicle, camp trailer, building, developed recreation site or within an area that is barren of fuel in a 3-foot diameter. No fireworks, tracer ammunition or incendiary devices are allowed. Also prohibited is cutting, grinding or welding of metal in areas with dry vegetation.
Anyone who has a permit, is conducting an activity with an authorized written notice or is a law enforcement officer or member of a rescue or firefighting crew is exempt from the ban.
