SANDY — City civil engineer Mike Gladbach has been awarded Utah engineer of the year recognition by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Gladbach has been with Sandy for five years. His projects include the intersection at 11400 South and State Street and the one at 9400 South and 1300 East. The engineer oversees design and construction citywide.

The award is based on contribution to society in general, volunteer work, professional accomplishments such as research and length of membership, said Utah President Brent Packer.
