BYU center Trent Plaisted will work out for the Jazz this morning.

It is the Jazz's last scheduled workout prior to Thursday night's NBA Draft.

Plaisted — measured during the recent NBA pre-draft camp in Orlando at 6-foot-10 — with shoes, 6-9 without — is projected by most Internet mock drafts, and some within the Jazz organization, to be a second-round selection.

He is an early entrant to the draft, having decided to leave BYU after a junior season in which he averaged 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Cougars.

Plaisted will audition along with draft hopeful Steven Hill, a 7-foot center from the University of Arkansas.

The Jazz own two second-picks in the draft, their own and one originally belonging to Philadelphia, along with their No. 23 overall first-round selection.

RUMOR MILL: With the draft fast-approaching, a few Jazz-relevant draft rumors:

Story continues below
• According to Monday's Charlotte Observer, "Don't be surprised if the Charlotte Bobcats acquire an extra first-round pick and use it to draft Georgetown center Roy Hibbert. A source with another NBA team hears the Bobcats have checked around for a pick in the late teens or early 20s. That same source hears Hibbert might be the Bobcats' target if they make such a deal (not that it's a given Hibbert would still be around then)."

Hibbert has worked out twice for the Jazz and is a possible pick for them at 23.

• According to Monday's Philadelphia Daily News, "A voice in the league familiar with predraft machinations suggests the Sixers might be giving serious consideration to Alexis Ajinca, a 20-year-old 7-footer who averaged a modest five points with Hyeres-Toulon in France."

Ajinca, scheduled to audition for the 76ers today, worked out Sunday in Utah along with Hibbert and others and is another possible pick for the Jazz at 23.

• University of Kansas big man and Russia native Sasha Kaun has signed a three-year contract with CSKA Moscow, the elite Russian team — and former club of Jazz starting small forward Andrei Kirilenko — announced on its Web site.

According to DraftExpress.com, Kaun "has not shut the door on playing in the NBA down the road, as he has a comfortable buyout after the second year of his contract, which may even make him more attractive to a team drafting in the late second round."

Kaun worked out for the Jazz earlier this month.

RADIO TALK: Jazz-controlled radio station KFNZ 1320-AM has reached agreement with Westwood One to carry the radio network's broadcasts of USA Basketball's games during next month's Summer Olympics in China, Jazz president and KFNZ boss Randy Rigby said on Monday. It's the same day Jazz point guard Deron Williams and power forward Carlos Boozer both were officially named to the national team's roster.

The local radio station will carry broadcasts live overnight in the Salt Lake market, and again during daytime hours, Rigby said Monday.
