MLS roundup: New York wins without stars, beats FC Dallas
Goldthwaite's goal came on a header in the 16th minute. It was the second of the season for Goldthwaite, who was forced to leave the game eight minutes later due to hamstring strains in both legs.
New York (5-4-4) already was playing without captain Claudio Reyna and Juan Pablo Angel, their leading scorer last season. Both players were sidelined with hamstring strains.
FC Dallas (4-6-4), which lost for the third time in four matches, mustered only one good scoring opportunity.
WIZARDS 0, TORONTO FC 0: Toronto FC's three-game home winning streak was snapped by struggling Kansas City, which is winless in seven games. It was the third time this season that Toronto (6-4-3) had been held scoreless. Toronto is 5-0-3 at home. The Wizards (3-5-4) are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings and haven't scored in three games this month.
The game was delayed for 18 minutes after the lights behind the east stands went out during the 69th minute.
CREW 3, GALAXY 3: At Carson, Calif.. second-half substitute Stephen Lenhart netted the tying goal in the 88th minute for the Columbus Crew, who scored three times in the final 23 minutes and earned a 3-3 draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy. Landon Donovan converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, but Lenhart erased the second one-goal deficit of the half for the Crew (7-4-2). Donovan had given the Galaxy a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute. Edson Buddle's goal in the 47th minute gave the Galaxy (6-4-3) a 2-0 lead, but Brad Evans and Guillermo Barros Schelotto answered to get the Crew even.
