Campus notes: Utah State
The Aggies will be out in front of Albertson's, Smith's, Smith's Marketplace, Home Depot and Sam's Club on Saturday. Players will be available to talk about the upcoming season, while handing out schedule cards, which contains ticket information.
BASKETBALL: Santa Clara University announced Friday the hiring of James Ware as an assistant men's basketball coach. Ware had been an assistant coach at Utah State University since August 2006.
"James has done a good job in his two years at Utah State," said USU head coach Stew Morrill. "The opportunity at Santa Clara is a promotion in terms of staff position and compensation. We wish James and his family nothing but the best and we will certainly miss them and their contributions to our program."
ACADEMICS: For the third straight year, Utah State has led the Western Athletic Conference in number of academic all-league honorees as the Aggies landed 130 student-athletes on the academic all-WAC teams in 2007-08. USU just completed its third season in the WAC.
Overall, it is the ninth time in the last 10 years that Utah State has had the most academic all-league honorees as it led the Big West Conference in 2000 and 2002-05.
