Jazz's Harpring undergoes successful bone-spur surgery
The outpatient procedure was performed by Dr. R. Marvin Royster in Atlanta, where Harpring played at Georgia Tech and makes his offseason home.
No information on Harpring's recovery timeline was immediately made available.
Last offseason, Harpring had surgery to address bone spurs on his left ankle.
The 32-year-old has played 10 NBA seasons, including six in Utah. He averaged 8.2 points and 18.1 minutes over 76 games during the 2007-08 regular season.
Harpring is the third Jazz player to undergo surgery this offseason.
Backup power forward Paul Millsap had a torn thumb ligament repaired shortly after the season ended, and backup shooting guard Kyle Korver had a bone spur removed from his left foot.
Both of those surgeries also were deemed to have been successful, according to the Jazz.
WORKOUTS PLANNED: The Jazz will work out six pro prospects on Sunday, including highly regarded University of Florida big man Marreese Speights.
Another possible Jazzman who will work out Sunday in Utah is Rider power forward Jason Thompson, who according to various Internet mock drafts could go anywhere from the latter half of the first round to the first half of the second round.
Also scheduled to audition Sunday: 6-10 Cal power forward Ryan Anderson; 6-9 Indiana power forward D.J. White; Alabama point guard Ronald Steele; and University of Utah point Johnnie Bryant.
According to ESPN.com, Anderson and White could go late in the first round or sometime in the second, and Steele is a likely second-rounder.
Bryant is a fill-in for previously scheduled Swedish point guard Rudy Mbemba, who was injured in a previous workout elsewhere.
It's the second Jazz workout for Bryant, who said last week that he hopes to earn a summer-league invitation and perhaps embark on a playing career overseas.
Besides picking 23rd, the Jazz select No. 44 overall in the second round of the 60-pick draft.
