Archuleta signs record contract
The 17-year-old is expected to release his full-length debut CD later this year.
"David Archuleta has already shown the world that he is a star," said Tom Carrabba, executive vice president and general manager of the Jive/Zomba Record Label Group, in a press release.
"He's a young, talented singer with wide appeal and we're thrilled to have him join our roster."
Jive Records is home to pop icons such as the Backstreet Boys and hard rockers such as Bullet for My Valentine and funk-master 311.
"Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true," said Archuleta in a statement.
"Being a fan of 'American Idol' since season one and admiring the alumni, I am honored and humbled to be part of that group. I'm really excited to start working on everything," he said.
Archuleta is also part of the "American Idol" tour that will come to the E Center on July 14-15. The other "American Idol" finalists, including Brooke White and winner David Cook, will also perform.
