Input by Utahns sought on changes to liquor laws
The change already has the support of Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., and liquor commissioners voted last week to start drafting a proposal expected to go before the 2009 Legislature, where lawmakers will have the final say over whether the private clubs become, in effect, bars.
But liquor commissioners still want to hear from Utahns and have set two public hearings at the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control offices located at 1625 S. 900 West in Salt Lake City.
The first hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 11; and the second for 6 p.m. June 17. Written comments will also be accepted and should be mailed to Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, Attn: Sharon Mackay, P.O. Box 30408, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0408.
For more information, contact Mackay, the department's spokeswoman, by phone at 801-977-6801 or by e-mail at smackay@utah.gov.
