The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office received a donation Thursday for new night-vision equipment.

Magna resident David Fitzgerald contributed more than $4,000 in special equipment to the sheriff office's Magna precinct. The equipment will help deputies better watch for certain crimes that traditionally happen at night, such as graffiti, without being detected themselves.

Fitzgerald received a plaque from Sheriff Jim Winder thanking him for his donation.
