The body of an Air Force pilot with Utah ties was recovered Monday from Escambia Bay, near Pensacola, Fla.

Second Lt. John Alley, 26, had moved from Salt Lake City to Florida for training at Whiting Field Air Force Base. He lived with his wife, Emily. They were expecting their first child.

Alley never returned from work Friday, according to the Pensacola Police Department. The next day, the airman's wrecked car was found with keys in the ignition and wallet and mobile phone inside.

The Alley family and law enforcement set off on a massive search, knocking on doors and posting fliers. They also started a Web site, www.helpfindjohn.info and posted videos on youtube.com.

Alley's body was found washed up on shore about a quarter mile from the crash site, according to Pensacola police. An autopsy will be performed.
