8 companies are honored for technology innovations
The awards program is presented by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council and sponsored by Connect magazine. A committee of nearly 60 experts from private industry, government and higher education selected the award winners in the eight categories:
• Biotechnology/Pharmaceuticals: Cell Therapy for Acute Renal Failure by Allocure Inc. The other finalist was Novel Antibiotic Screening by Echelon Biosciences Inc.
• Chemicals/Materials Science: NaSicon Membrane Technology by Ceramatec Inc.. The other finalist was Torion Guardion-7 Chemical/Biological Detector by BYU and Torion Technologies.
• Clean Technology and Energy: In-situ Vapor Extraction by Mountain West Energy LLC. Other finalists were RoofShade Nature's Free Air-Conditioning by RoofShade Inc. and Wind Tower/HiJack Lifting System by Wasatch Wind.
• Consumer Software: Student Profile and College Wizard by Zinch Inc. The other finalists were Control4 Home Automation by Control4 and Crime Reports.com by Public Engines.
• Enterprise B2B Software: Solera Networks DS Series Packet Capture Appliance by Solera Networks Inc. The other finalists were Doba Inventory on Demand Platform by Doba and TruPath CNC-Robot Controller by Direct Controls Inc.
• Mechanical Devices: Noble-Gas-Based Adjustable Insulation by Klymit. Other finalists were Cricut Expression 24-inch Personal Electronic Cutter by Provo Craft and Novelty Inc. and Kapitol Reef Snorkel by Kadence Technology Inc.
• Medical Devices: Active Cervical Plate by Sanacor, QED-100 by Anecare Laboratories Inc. The other finalist was The LouseBuster by Larada Sciences Inc.
